The Modi government had announced prior to coming to power that they would double the income of farmers in the coming days. Keeping this in mind, the Modi government has established the National Agriculture Market (E-NAM Portal). This online market is for the benefit of farmers, and so far, many farmers across the country have joined it and are working to double or increase their income. Let’s learn more about E-NAM.

Under the leadership of Narendra Modi, the government established the National Agriculture Market to double the income of farmers. This is an online market that is currently working very well for the benefit of farmers, and most of the farmers in the country are now connected to this market. Currently, around two crore farmers are connected to this market (E-NAM Mandi). In 2017, only 17,000 farmers were connected to this market, while in 2018-19, this number had reached nearly two crore.

Farmers receive a fair price for their crops when they sell them, which is beneficial to farmers across the country. The E-NAM Portal is an electronic portal that makes the market available to farmers to sell their produce in over 585 markets across the country. The E-NAM is the largest and most advanced platform for agri-marketing in the country, and it provides a single-window service for all APMC-related information and services.

What are the features of the E-NAM Portal?

● The E-NAM (National Agriculture Market) portal was launched on April 14, 2016, which allows registered farmers to receive fair prices for their produce and sell it anywhere in the country.

● With the introduction of this portal, farmers no longer need to depend on middlemen as they can directly send their crops to any of the 585 markets connected by the government.

● The Small Farmers Agribusiness Consortium (SFAC), working under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, is the largest institution implementing the E-NAM scheme and plays a crucial role in the government’s plan.

● The government aims to add 200 more markets to the E-NAM scheme this year and could include 215 new markets in the following year.

● There are currently around 2,700 agriculture produce markets and 4,000 sub-markets in the country. With the E-NAM scheme, it is now possible to conduct trade between two states.
