Cillian Murphy is an Irish actor born on 25 May 1976. The Sons of Mr. Green Genes lead singer, guitarist, and lyricist turned down a record deal in the late 1990s and began acting on stage and in short films. One of his first notable film credits was Jim in the zombie horror 28 Days Later (2002), followed by Intermission (2003) and Red Eye (2005). The Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy went to him for his role as a transgender Irish woman in Breakfast on Pluto (2005).
Additionally, Murphy appeared in the sci-fi action thriller Inception (2010), the war drama Dunkirk (2017), and the upcoming biopic Oppenheimer (2023) as the titular physicist in collaboration with Christopher Nolan, who played the Scarecrow in The Dark Knight Trilogy of superhero films (2005–2012). In addition to The Wind That Shakes the Barley (2006), Sunshine (2007), In Time (2011), and Anthropoid (2016), he has starred in the sci-fi action thriller In Time and the horror A Quiet Place Part II (2021). Peaky Blinders, for which he won the Irish Film and Television Award for Best Actor in both 2017 and 2018, was his BBC crime drama series from 2013 to 2022.
